Summer Series: “Deep Listening”

During this series, we will explore balance through listening. In our lives, whether we whisper or shout, rest or jump, reverberations occur. Listening to those reverberations through our skeleton gives us a greater sense of familiarity for finding our own balance. These lessons will speak to the whisperer in each of us. This class will be for those who would prefer to do lessons sitting in a chair rather than lying on the floor.

Chamber Music on the Hill (CMOTH), located at Converse College in North Carolina has been cancelled for 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Stay in touch for 2021.

 

Feldenkrais Guild of North America (FGNA) Conference 2020

Lindy will be making her debut teaching at the annual conference this year.

As all events are contingent on the ongoing developments of Covid-19, we are waiting to hear the impact on the FGNA Conference 2020. It currently is scheduled for July 1-5 in Anaheim, CA.

Segment 1 of the spring series of Awareness Through Movement classes will be exploring “The Potency of Small Movements”. In my early professional days, it was not unusual to hear the phrases, “No pain, no gain” or “PT—pain and torture”. Even though that was 30+ yrs ago, there is still some idea of those sentiments left over in our collective consciousness; maybe for our survival, maybe for our inability to readily change. Whatever the reason, in this series of weekly classes we will be grounding the idea of “less is more” in our internal experience of ourselves.

The theme for segment 2 of the spring series is “Finding Comfort In Hard To Find Places”. Whether there our parts of your body that are out of awareness or aspects of living that are hard or painful to do, we will explore both angles in discovering that which in the beginning is elusive.

Safety First

As we adapt to the ongoing changes in our environment and the threat of the Coronavirus, we will be using all of the safety precautions that are currently being recommended by CDC for all of our safety at Movement Matters Studio. And to minimize the impact we have on each other, I will be offering the first segment of the spring group series online using Zoom. This means that you will be able to participate in Awareness Through Movement® lessons from the comfort of your own home. I have been participating and organizing lessons online for 5 years. There is nothing like doing lessons live with a teacher in person, but online with a live teacher is the second best option, especially during this time of high vulnerability.

At MM studio:

Wednesday 5:30-6:30 PM: Jan. 29, Feb. 5, 12, 19, 26, Mar. 4

A full series includes six classes (5 at Thornton Oaks). You may attend all of your classes on the same day/time each week, or add up six classes as your schedule allows.

Drop-in classes are $20 per class.
The full series of six classes is $15 per class.
Thornton Oaks residents receive a discount at Thornton Oaks. Please inquire.
